the reality of growing up

There are certain people that I would move mountains for...

There are certain people that all you want for them is the moon - and when life darkens for them, all you want to do is be their sun.  No matter how many people are in your life, no matter how many people you care about - there are always a core few that you hold in a whole other area of your heart.

What's hard about growing up - amongst other things, obviously - is learning that there's only so much you can do for someone else, no matter how much you love them.

Thrifting / Salvage Findings

Many cool findings to show you!
First - this awesome, wooden silverware holder.  Found it in a Goodwill earlier this month - and only paid like $2.50 for it - no kidding.

This particular Goodwill is one of my favorites [1201 W. Washington Blvd, Chicago, IL] - sure, as with all second hand stores, sometimes it's a bust - but sometimes you can find amazingness.  Plus, they're open on Sundays.  Win.

I was originally going to gut it, but then just recently discovered the bottom drawer...

Italy – Days 5 & 6: Arrivederci

[April 2011]

I'm tearing through the Rome airport at the fastest pace my little legs can go, layered in clothes and carrying all my luggage.  My flight home to Chicago takes off in less than 10 minutes, and I am... completely... screwed.  Apparently Italy doesn't want to let me go.

How did I get in this predicament?

Italy – Days 3 & 4: Pazzo

[April 2011]

Rick Steves says “Renting a car to drive in traffic-crazy Rome is certifiably pazzo (crazy).”  Well, call me pazzo :)  Monday, April 4th found me behind the driver’s seat of a Smart Car – careening through the streets of Rome, yes, but also the highways of Tuscany AND narrow, winding, steep mountain roads of Cinque Terre.  Crazy is about right… but let me catch you up, first, with the rest of Sunday evening.

Italy – Days 1 & 2: Buongiorno!

[April 2011]

Something about traveling in Europe always results in me over-using muscles in my legs that I never knew existed - Rome, Italy is no exception.  It's currently a day & a half into my trip and my legs are already pretty angry with me.  Little do they know, there's a good four days more they've gotta last me until normal use resumes.  Though I take that back, with 48 hours of my return to Chicago, my first 8k awaits me.  Shhhh!  Nobody tell my legs.

So far, Roma is wonderful...
